Evan and I met my friend Sherri and her daughter Natalie (she will be 5 in July) at City Lake Park. Evan had a grand time playing on the playground, riding the train and the carousel. Natalie was so sweet and watched out for Evan and helped him get up the steps and down the slide. It was a great day.

A Very Special Day
Not only is today Father’s Day but it also marks the first anniversary of Evan arriving in the United States and becoming a citizen. It is so hard to believe that he has been here a year. Kevin and I still talk about the flight home with him. He wasn’t great but it wasn’t as bad as we expected. He slept the first 45 minutes and the last two hours of an 11 hour flight. He then slept from Atlanta to Greensboro (he didn’t even wake up when we landed). By the time we landed in Greensboro, Kevin and I had been up about 24 hours. Talk about exhausted. Kevin also came home sick. It is kind of ironic. We are marking one year home in the States and Kevin is sick.
We had lunch at Evan’s Mommaw and Papaw’s today for Father’s Day and they had a special cake to celebrate his year home. He also received a Build-a-Bear Puppy with a Carolina Tar Heels bandana from his Aunt Dennie, Uncle Curtis and Honorary Grandpa Kendrick.
It has been a great day of celebration

Forever Family Day
Today marks one year since Evan officially became our son. I still remember what a long day it was waiting for the paperwork to be completed before we could pick Evan up from the baby house and return to Moscow. I think about how scared I was and not knowing what I had gotten us into. All I know now is that he is so wrapped up in my heart; I can’t imagine what life was ever like without him. He has made our family complete..
He has changed in so many ways. He has gotten taller and thinned out. No more chubby cheeks. He is talking up a storm and is on target in all areas. He loves to be outside playing. He is a joy (most days).

The Zoo
Mom and I took Evan to the zoo this past Saturday and it was a beautiful day. I think he had the most fun just being able to run down the paths and riding the tram. He really liked seeing the seals and watching them swim right by him. Unfortunately, the polar bear and gorilla were being lazy and he didn’t get to see them in action. I didn’t take any pictures of the animals but here a few of Evan sitting on some of the animal statues.

Pictures
We worked on a play area for Evan last weekend. He had a ball raking out mulch and spreading it with his very own rake. How long do you think it will be before he realizes that was work?
Evan and Daddy playing with the Remote Control Truck. Of course, Evan is just observing since this truck actually belongs to Daddy and he isn't sharing. By the way, Kevin bought this before we brought Evan home and told me it was for him. Like Evan can operate a remote control truck that can go up to 30mph.
