Two Year Old Checkup

Kevin and I took Evan for his two year old check up today. Evan’s Pediatrician said he was doing great. He weighed 25lb 6oz and is 33 ¼ inches tall. He has gained two pounds and grown two inches since September 08. He did really well. He didn’t cry when they checked him over (ears/nose/listen to his lungs/heart) like he has in the past. He is really growing up quickly. The only time he cried was when he had to get two shots. Except for his yearly flu shot, that was his last round of shots until he starts school.

Toddler Bed in the immediate future?

Evan gave me a scare this afternoon. He wanted to play in his crib so I was sitting in the rocking chair watching him. Well, low and behold he managed to flip himself over the end of the crib and land on his back. Talk about petrified. He was crying and I was scared to pick him up in case he had injured himself. Well, he was soon on his feet and the tears quickly subsided. He is definitely a tough little cookie. I guess we need to consider converting his crib to a toddler bed in the near future.

The Power of Ketchup

I have posted before that Evan was eating less and less. He still hasn’t added a lot of variety to his palate but he has discovered ketchup. He loves to dip his french fries, fish sticks, and chicken nuggets in the ketchup, including his fingers. I even managed to get a few green beans in him the other night dipped in ketchup. I know, it sounds terrible. But whatever will work. Of course, he is a little messy by the time he finishes dinner. So, ketchup gets a gold star this week.

Allergy Medicine on Hold

We had begun giving Evan zyrtec each night after talking with his Pediatrician and ENT Physician about the possibility he may have allergies. We started out with the highest dose we were told to give and it really seemed to affect his disposition in that he was more tired, whiny and an unhappy child. So we dropped it back to the lowest dose and things did not improve. So we have now stopped giving it to him all together and thing have really started to improve over the last week. He is a much happier little boy in the mornings and evenings. So we will talk with the Doctor again when we go back this month for his 2 year check-up.

A Beautiful Weekend

What a gorgeous weekend. While I know the warm weather is probably a brief reprieve, it definitely makes me long for spring. Evan really enjoyed being able to be outside this weekend. On Saturday, he played with his sand table at Mom’s and rode his motorized 4-wheeler. Today, he rode his trike (can’t quite grasp the concept of pedals yet so he pushes with his feet) and Kevin and I took him for a walk in the neighborhood. Of course he had the easy part since he wanted to ride in the stroller. It was nice just spending time together as a family.
