Metcha Day

It is hard to believe that we were in Russia this time last year and tomorrow marks a year since we first met Evan. We were so nervous making that first trip and entering into the unknown. We had no information other than we were going to be meeting a boy who had turned one in January 08. It is amazing how fast that blond haired, blue-gray eyed, pinchable cheek little boy stole our hearts. He looked so sad and scared to be placed in a room with two total strangers but we soon had him playing and finally coaxed a small smile out of him. I still remember flying out of Russia that Sunday and being sad knowing he was left behind until we could return for our court hearing.

As you can see from the pictures below,he has changed a lot since that first day.

Playing in the Snow

Evan had a great time playing in the snow this morning. And yes, those are plastic bags over his feet. He doesn't have snow shoes so I improvised.

The Snow finally arrived

We woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow this morning. It really gives everything a fresh look. Evan’s daycare is closed today. My work is opening at 11am but I don’t think I will make it in. Kevin said the roads were a little rough. I don’t have shoes for Evan to wear out in the snow so I guess we will be enjoying it from the warmth of the house. Hopefully it will be a snow that disappears quickly so we can all get back to our normal routine.

Enjoy the beauty of the snow!

Weekend Rain

The weekend was a cold, rainy mess. We didn’t get out much. Mom came over Saturday morning and stayed with Evan so I could run to the grocery store. Evan and I also went out to the drugstore drive thru to pick up some medicine. My way to get him to take a nap. Falls asleep in the car. Of course I paid for that nap Saturday night. He took a nap for almost three hours which is unheard of and that meant it took forever to get him to sleep Saturday night and of course he was still up at 6am Sunday morning. My one day to sleep late. No such luck. Sunday we went to church and over to Granna’s for a little while just to get out of the house. We were all anticipating the changeover from rain to snow.
