But those who make their journey home across time & miles,
growing within the hearts of those who wait to love them,
are carried on the wings of destiny and placed among us
by God's very own hands.

Evan and Natalie had a great time on the playground, riding the train and the carousel. Although I think their favorite activity may have been throwing rocks in the lake. It was also great to catch up with Sherri. It is amazing how much they have both grown over the last year. Make sure you check out the last two pictures I have posted and you can really tell the difference.
As you can probably tell by looking at his face, Evan loves strawberries. His teacher said he would pick a strawberry, take a bite and then put it in his basket.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 281px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S_sCtBnOJ8I/AAAAAAAAAs4/E6D8ZC_Dtz8/s400/scan0002_6.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5474972744549279682" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 271px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S_sCmPqJKKI/AAAAAAAAAsw/Gs_FmDf9ex0/s400/scan0001_5.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5474972628060547234" />Kevin, Christy and Evanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13505494599361121427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7858377918617234172.post-77683164416046200522010-05-17T19:20:00.004-04:002010-05-17T19:25:35.784-04:00Evan's Daycare PictureThese are pictures of Evan taken at daycare in April. I thought they turned out pretty good. In the 20 months he has been attending daycare, this was only the 2nd time he has been present for school pictures (didn't buy the last set). It seems that everytime the pictures have been scheduled he has been sick or out for surgery. So finally, school pictures.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 162px; height: 216px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S_HPsNGcqBI/AAAAAAAAAso/mvaAedF1ljg/s400/045_sm.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5472383380569761810" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 162px; height: 216px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S_HPoUM9WTI/AAAAAAAAAsg/Qt6qRXXr0j4/s400/046_sm.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5472383313756641586" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 162px; height: 216px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S_HPkp_mDaI/AAAAAAAAAsY/bTjh39xqRrw/s400/047_sm.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5472383250886692258" />Kevin, Christy and Evanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13505494599361121427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7858377918617234172.post-18598049792787484232010-05-05T17:31:00.000-04:002010-05-05T17:33:01.588-04:00HeartstringsAlthough Kevin and I regularly tell Evan we love him, he has never been one to reciprocate. You would ask him, “Do you love me?” and he would grin and shake his head no. It has only been in the last few weeks that he reciprocates by saying “I Love you too”. You don’t realize how much those words mean or how you have longed to hear them until they are said.

Another really sweet thing happened last night. Kevin is back to working two nights per week at the golf course and since it gets dark later and later, Evan is generally asleep by the time he gets home. On those nights, Evan wants to know when Daddy is coming home, why is he working late and can get whiny. He generally will not even play in the bathtub very long either. Last night, Evan was getting ready for bed and had just finished brushing his teeth when Kevin got home earlier than usual for a golf course working night. Evan threw himself in Kevin’s arm and hugged him and told him “I missed you”. He sat right beside Kevin on the bed while we read bedtime books and would keep hugging and telling him “I missed you”. It was such a sweet and heart melting moment.Kevin, Christy and Evanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13505494599361121427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7858377918617234172.post-28289006218917672202010-05-03T19:29:00.000-04:002010-05-03T19:30:13.566-04:00Evan learns to ride his Big Boy BikeGranna had bought Evan a bicycle with training wheels for Christmas. We have worked with him off and on but he never seemed to understand the concept that you could not pedal backward like with a tricycle. If you pedal backwards on a bicycle, that is your brakes. Well, on Friday, April 30th it all seemed to click and he has been riding that bicycle as fast and often as he can. He has also been willing to wear his helmet.Kevin, Christy and Evanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13505494599361121427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7858377918617234172.post-83504102298902417302010-05-03T19:11:00.012-04:002010-05-03T19:29:27.173-04:00More Pictures<img style="display:block; I am sure I probably wrote that same statement in previous entries. Time just seems to get away from me. Evan is doing great and growing like a weed. Items of interest:

1. He had a follow up appointment in March for his surgery in February and everything looked great.
2. I had to take him to the Doctor on March 19th. He woke up and told us his knee was hurting and he wouldn’t walk or put any pressure on his left leg. I took him on to daycare thinking that once he got to school he would start playing and forget about it. Well, that didn’t happen. His teacher called and said he was crying, not putting any pressure on his leg and crawling. So off to the Doctor we go for a two hour visit which involved x-rays (me and a tech having to hold him down) and a finger prick. Luckily the Doctor did not find anything wrong. She said it could have been a virus that was making his upper leg hurt. Well, he took a nap and within an hour of waking up, he was running around playing like nothing had every happened. It was a traumatic morning but at least it was nothing serious.
3. We had a really busy Saturday on March 27th. I took Evan to Bumper Jumpers and he bounced and jumped to his heart’s content. That afternoon it was off to an Easter Egg hunt at the local Rec Center and that night, a neighborhood cookout/Easter egg hunt. He was one tired little boy that night
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S99XylxPOdI/AAAAAAAAAqw/kNBnSmxNuNs/s400/Evan-March+2010+030.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5467184999294777810" /> Easter Egg Hunt at the Rec Center

4. Easter we spent with our families. We were at Mommaw and Poppaw’s for dinner on Saturday night with the family and the kids had a great time hunting Easter Eggs. Although, Ashley and I conveniently left the kids’s bubbles behind. Easter Sunday found the arrival of the Easter Bunny. Evan was really excited to get a new lawnmower and two Dragon Tale DVD’s. Easter lunch that Sunday was with Granna and more Easter presents. Of course, Evan didn’t want to sit still to have a picture made in his Easter outfit

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S99WYqDE-jI/AAAAAAAAAqo/9OUvUAOZQJw/s400/Evan-April+2010+019.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5467183454255118898" />
Adele, Yancy and Evan--waiting to hunt Easter Eggs

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S99VZyEV1JI/AAAAAAAAAqg/ifbV5o5uZe4/s400/Evan-April+2010+030.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5467182374076142738" />
The infamous bubbles
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S99VFwsrSUI/AAAAAAAAAqY/XMPvxjEdNkQ/s400/Evan-April+2010+038.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5467182030111066434" />
Evan with his Easter Basket
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S99UoNSsb1I/AAAAAAAAAqQ/pUsTYQ4cYgo/s400/Evan-April+2010+050.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5467181522390642514" />
Easter Outfit

5. Evan had his follow-up hearing test on March 13th and it also went well. His hearing seems to be right on track and we don’t go back for a year. The audiologist is hoping to get him to the point where he is willing to wear the headphones for the test. Dr. Phipps (ENT who did his surgery) also came out to talk to him. I told Dr. Phipps that he was the only Doctor Evan didn’t cry about having to come see.
6. We met with our Social Worker on Friday, April 30th for our 3rd Post Placement Report. They are required at 6 months and years 1, 2, and 3 home. So only one more to go. It went well and it is always exciting for someone to see how much he has changed.Kevin, Christy and Evanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13505494599361121427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7858377918617234172.post-49283987446379416192010-02-27T12:36:00.000-05:002010-02-27T12:37:35.667-05:003 Year Old Check-UpEvan had his three year old checkup on Friday, February 26th and is doing very well. He is now 36 inches tall and weighs 28 lbs and 10oz. So he has grown almost 2 ¾ of an inch and gained about 3 lbs since he turned two. The Doctor stated he was on track. However, he did get a shot which I was not prepared for. Apparently a booster had come out for a shot since he turned 2. He wasn’t too happy about the shot but it quickly became a distant memory. I then took him to Pump It Up so he could bounce to his hearts content and then off to Chick-fil-a to meet Daddy for lunch.

On a side note, Evan did return to daycare last week and it went better than expected after being out for two weeks. Of course, it only took three days before he caught a cold. The never ending cycle of a runny nose and cough begins again.Kevin, Christy and Evanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13505494599361121427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7858377918617234172.post-33480021602267123712010-02-15T15:10:00.000-05:002010-02-15T15:11:11.534-05:00Surgery RecoveryEvan is recovering well from surgery to have his tonsils/adenoids and a 2nd set of tubes on 2/9/10. His surgery was scheduled for 8:30 that morning so we had to be at the hospital around 7am. Evan was a real trooper about not being able to eat or drink that morning. We had been preparing him by reading Franklin goes to the Hospital. I will have to say it was heart wrenching to hand him over to Dr. Phipps who carried him into the operating room. It wasn’t this hard when he had the 1st set of tubes but this time we knew he would be undergoing general anesthesia. He was able to take his blue blanket and Snowman (stuffed animal of choice at this time) into the operating room. We spent one night in the hospital and he did so well. He didn’t bother the IV which stayed in until we left. Of course he never got out of bed until we left the next day. The hospital gets Nick Jr., his favorite TV station which helped to keep him entertained. We have been able to keep him eating and drinking and he is doing much better. Dr. Phipps said his adenoids were extremely large and they had to get fluid out of his ears. The Doctor also said that once he heals we should see a big difference. Thank you so much for your prayers.Kevin, Christy and Evanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13505494599361121427noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7858377918617234172.post-16158971697899322202010-02-01T20:42:00.010-05:002010-02-01T21:02:27.787-05:00Fun in the SnowEvan had a great time playing in the snow. We went back for follow-up with the ENT Doctor today. As I mentioned earlier, his tubes have come out of his ears. Well, the fluid is already building back up. Evan also has extremely large tonsils that the Doctor has been keeping an eye on. Evan doesn’t snore a lot but he is a heavy mouth breather. Also, due to the fact that Evan continues to have a lot of colds/cough/runny nose and two cases of strep, he will be having tubes put back in his ears and having his tonsils and adenoids out on February 9th. We will be spending one night in the hospital. So keep us in your prayers.Kevin, Christy and Evanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13505494599361121427noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7858377918617234172.post-15579895741411269232010-01-24T19:15:00.006-05:002010-01-24T19:24:45.319-05:00Evan turns 3!It is hard to believe but Evan turned 3 on Friday, January 22nd. He is growing up so fast. He had cupcakes with his classmates on Friday to celebrate his birthday. Today we had a small family party. He had a great time playing with his cousins and was excited about his Thomas the Train Cake.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S1zkVlXvN1I/AAAAAAAAApA/sj56kXmUQIA/s400/Evan--January+2010+007.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430466310162036562" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S1zkFNU8i0I/AAAAAAAAAo4/wSRptNn73S8/s400/Evan--January+2010+008.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430466028829969218" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S1zjzu7t_GI/AAAAAAAAAow/9AKxVgUzrkc/s400/Evan--January+2010+012.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430465728613317730" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S1zjgspP0II/AAAAAAAAAoo/piBIpMrvquw/s400/Evan--January+2010+018.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430465401581457538" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S1zjOVTkt4I/AAAAAAAAAog/s2AYGURH_sg/s400/Evan--January+2010+020.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430465086078891906" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S1zi4XbxujI/AAAAAAAAAoY/pGh8FZw44BE/s400/Evan--January+2010+025.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430464708693047858" />Kevin, Christy and Evanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13505494599361121427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7858377918617234172.post-13438968317287226812010-01-23T10:14:00.008-05:002010-01-23T10:37:19.787-05:00Where has the time gone?I know, I know, there has been no update since October. Time seems to just get away from me these days. We have enjoyed the holidays and spending time with family. We had an early Thanksgiving the Sunday prior. Evan had a great time playing with his cousins.

Evan enjoyed the Christmas lights wherever we went and checking out the Christmas trees. I didn’t put as many ornaments on the tree this year but I also didn’t have to put them on the upper half of the tree. I put some of Evan’s non-breakable ornaments at the bottom. I still had to keep an eye on him or he would have had them off. We did go see Santa but he didn’t like sitting on Santa’s lap any better this year.

Evan also enjoyed the snow. He was running a slight fever but we did let him tromp through the snow for a little while. We went to the Doctor the Monday before Christmas and he had strep. So 10 days of the pink medicine and he recovered.

Hope you enjoyed our Video Christmas Card. It is amazing to us to see how much he grew and changed during 2009.

On Christmas Eve, Evan and I made cookies for Santa (okay, they were the store bought ones, Evan did add the sprinkles). We left cookies for Santa along with milk, orange juice and a bottle of water. When Evan woke up Christmas morning, he wanted to know if Santa was still here. I told him no but did he want to see if Santa had left him anything. I believe his favorite present was his leaf blower and goggles like Daddy’s. He also liked his jeep that came with a drill to take it apart and put back together. As with most kids, the clothes didn’t generate much interest.

Now we are in a New Year and starting it off sick again. Evan went to the Doctor on Wednesday (1/6). He had an ear infection. His tubes had been in a year just after Christmas. The tube in his right ear has come out and they took the tube out of his left ear. We will just have to hope this is a one time ear infection and don’t start occurring frequently or it may be tubes again.

Evan in his Christmas Outfits
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S1sW8FNqoGI/AAAAAAAAAoQ/Dql80IdOwvg/s400/Evan--December+09+008.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5429958997172723810" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/S1sWqqGdDAI/AAAAAAAAAoI/BrSXv_cWiuU/s400/Evan--December+09+023.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5429958697836940290" />
Enjoying the Snow. We did a little something different this year for a Christmas Card and wanted to share. Evan has changed so much over this year. It is hard to believe that he will three next month. He had his last dose of Tylenol at noon today and took a 3 1/2 hour nap. He woke up with no fever and was still fever free at bedtime. Since he didn't have a fever we decided to put his Cowboy Outfit on him and let him Trick or Treat at a few houses. He was so cute. He would tell us he wanted to to go another one. We were only out about 20 minutes so fortunately it is a small supply of treats to be doled out.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/SuzrlYSeDpI/AAAAAAAAAnY/Nxp05kcmbYU/s400/Evan--October+09+047.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5398949080717987474" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/SuzrVDdB-WI/AAAAAAAAAnQ/zCxdEYxKwnU/s400/Evan--October+09+049.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5398948800247232866" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/Suzq-I7M6OI/AAAAAAAAAnI/Wmwn2kCULuk/s400/Evan--October+09+050.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5398948406578964706" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/SuzqsejSQ0I/AAAAAAAAAnA/S8UttZ5QgWk/s400/Evan--October+09+051.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5398948103146586946" />Kevin, Christy and Evanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13505494599361121427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7858377918617234172.post-80663187753964720922009-10-30T12:39:00.002-04:002009-10-30T12:46:05.074-04:00The Flu has StruckYes, Evan has the flu. I got a call from daycare yesterday that he was running a fever. So I raced out of work to pick him up. He was so pitiful looking when I picked him up but amazingly he perked up a lot once he was home. I talked with the nurse and she said to see how he was on Friday. Well, last night he ran a fever of 104 degrees and Motrin would only get it down to about 101 degrees. So I called first thing this morning for an appointment. They did the nasal swab test and it came back positive. It doesn't differentiate between Seasonal and H1N1 and you treat both the same. Ironically, he was scheduled to get his flu shot tomorrow. Luckily, Kevin and I have had our flu shots. They gave him a prescription for Tamiflu so we will start that this evening since you have to give it every 12 hours. So the poor little guy will have to miss Halloween and trick or treating this year. I will probably still put his outfit on him if he feels like it and take a few pictures. Say a prayer for him to get well soon.Kevin, Christy and Evanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13505494599361121427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7858377918617234172.post-57472917101062591632009-10-19T21:13:00.007-04:002009-10-19T21:23:33.003-04:00Pumpkin PatchOn Sunday, we headed to the Pumpkin Patch. It was cloudy, cold and windy. Last year, Evan was in shorts and a T-Shirt. This year he was in a hat and coat. He had a lot of fun running around the pumpkin patch. We took Evan to Myrtle Beach for a few days. He had a ball. We took him walking on the beach Sunday evening. Well, Evan kept running into the water and whenever the water receded he would start to fall down. He would just laugh and keep going back. By the time we got ready to go in, his clothes were soaked and covered in sand. The place we stayed also had a really nice children’s pool area with shooting water and dumping buckets. It was only 1 ft deep so that was nice. He was also a real trooper about wearing his ear plugs. He enjoyed going down the lazy river with Kevin. We also took him to Ripley’s aquarium so he enjoyed seeing all the fish and sharks.

This is one of my favorite pictures, watching the sun come up on Monday morning.
<img style="display:block; Although I have to admit, I am looking forward to some cooler weather.

Evan has discovered pockets and wants all of his shorts/pants to have them. I guess it will not be long until I start finding strange things in the pockets. Hopefully no frogs or lizards.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/SpFwvZ34mAI/AAAAAAAAAjs/0S7IeSS66uw/s400/Evan--August+09+008.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5373199790131156994" />

Evan is never far from his tractor. We entered the world of potty training with Evan over the July 4th Holiday. He is doing fairly well. He seems to do better for everyone else other than me. The mornings are generally a struggle. Evan is not a morning person even though he wakes up at the crack of dawn. He has had a few accidents but that is to be expected. We still have a long way to go but at least the process has started

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/SnRzbozx_bI/AAAAAAAAAis/oL5VnISLgAI/s400/Evan--July+09+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365039974753369522" />
We purchased Evan a little pool which he loves. He likes to splash around in the water and tell us he is swimming. Of course, you have to watch him or he will have all of his clothes off and be in his pool naked. Hopefully he isn’t going to grow up to be an exhibitionist.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/SnRzL35B8rI/AAAAAAAAAik/dXP6Ktrbgo8/s400/Evan--July+09+018.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365039703924011698" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/SnRy2lgiKDI/AAAAAAAAAic/A5XLuBPb1rY/s400/Evan--July+09+047.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365039338212173874" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/SnRyiHNvjVI/AAAAAAAAAiU/20Lna9Tpv88/s400/Evan--July+09+049.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365038986482912594" />

Mom also watched him over the 4th so Kevin and I could go out to eat. She called to tell me he had been eating too much fast food (We really don’t go that often). She told Evan she would fix him some chicken nuggets. He told her “I go to Wendy’s.” Needless to say, Mom took him to Wendy’s. I think he nibbled the edges of all the chicken nuggets which meant he may have eaten a total of one.

His newest question is “What that noisy?” He really doesn’t like loud sounds. His language continues to expand daily. You have to watch what you say because he will repeat you. His teacher at daycare commented to me the other day how well he was talking. He constantly amazes me with the concepts he understands. Upstairs/Downstairs, Forward/Back it up, just to name a few.

Another funny is that he was trying to wipe Kevin’s face one day telling him he had grass on it. Actually, Kevin just needed to shave.

We celebrated Kevin’s 40th birthday on July 12th. Evan told Kevin “Happy Day Daddy”. We also set up Evan’s big boy bed that weekend. I didn’t realize how small his room was until we converted his crib to a full-size bed ( I have been telling Kevin we will have to clean out the bonus room of his stuff and make it Evan’s room when he gets older). He seems to be adjusting to his new bed and has actually been staying in it at night. It seems strange that this little person who almost always ended up in our bed halfway through the night since he has been home isn’t cuddled up against you or sleeping horizontally such that Kevin and I are hugging the edge of the bed. If he wakes up, I lay down with him until he goes back to sleep. Of course, I usually fall asleep too. The other night I got up after Evan went to sleep and the whole house was dark. I looked at the clock and it was 11pm. Kevin said he figured I had fallen asleep.

Evan enjoys spending time with his cousins. He follows Yancy (4 ½) around and copies everything she does which is really sweet. She really watches out for him. Of course I can’t get close to Adele (15 months) or he is right there pushing between us telling her “My Mommy”.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/SnRyQmXUroI/AAAAAAAAAiM/r67e7vTmp-c/s400/Evan--July+09+037.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365038685606948482" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/SnRx-lG97mI/AAAAAAAAAiE/j7YXUMMOsls/s400/Evan--July+09+042.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365038376032267874" />

Evan also loves to see our neighbor’s daughter, Baby Sophie (7 months) and she likes to watch him. He always asks about her. You can generally find us in the evenings at the end of our driveways talking.Kevin, Christy and Evanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13505494599361121427noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7858377918617234172.post-85478132366851764582009-06-27T19:30:00.009-04:002009-06-27T19:49:42.877-04:00Time at the ParkEvan and I met my friend Sherri and her daughter Natalie (she will be 5 in July) at City Lake Park. It is so hard to believe that he has been here a year. Kevin and I still talk about the flight home with him. He wasn’t great but it wasn’t as bad as we expected. He slept the first 45 minutes and the last two hours of an 11 hour flight. He then slept from Atlanta to Greensboro (he didn’t even wake up when we landed). By the time we landed in Greensboro, Kevin and I had been up about 24 hours. Talk about exhausted. Kevin also came home sick. It is kind of ironic. We are marking one year home in the States and Kevin is sick.

We had lunch at Evan’s Mommaw and Papaw’s today for Father’s Day and they had a special cake to celebrate his year home. He also received a Build-a-Bear Puppy with a Carolina Tar Heels bandana from his Aunt Dennie, Uncle Curtis and Honorary Grandpa Kendrick.

It has been a great day of celebration

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/Sj6-RHlRZVI/AAAAAAAAAgM/k5KC7iyJ0TA/s400/Evan--June+09+078.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349922608665158994" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/Sj69_lXUAPI/AAAAAAAAAgE/m2Mz4m3gnxM/s400/Evan--June+09+064.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349922307422028018" />
1 Year Celebration Cake
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_bif0xW0bTeo/Sj69rjgGZqI/AAAAAAAAAf8/Bhpn8y4QdpY/s400/Evan--June+09+089.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349921963324630690" />
Listening to the special message recorded by Aunt Dennie on his Build-A-Bear PuppyKevin, Christy and Evanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13505494599361121427noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7858377918617234172.post-80470631944767573972009-06-10T05:44:00.000-04:002009-06-10T05:45:35.560-04:00Forever Family DayToday marks one year since Evan officially became our son. I still remember what a long day it was waiting for the paperwork to be completed before we could pick Evan up from the baby house and return to Moscow. I think about how scared I was and not knowing what I had gotten us into. All I know now is that he is so wrapped up in my heart; I can’t imagine what life was ever like without him. He has made our family complete..

He has changed in so many ways. He has gotten taller and thinned out. No more chubby cheeks. He is talking up a storm and is on target in all areas. He loves to be outside playing. He is a joy (most days).Kevin, Christy and Evanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13505494599361121427noreply@blogger.com1
